Walsall Under 14’s V Stoke
Sunday 20th October 2013
In a hard fought encounter Walsall lost out to a big well drilled Stoke side by 32 points to 14.
Walsall started against the wind and slope and were soon trailing when the Stoke side manufactured an overlap to score a converted try. Walsall continued to compete in the first half but were unbable to make many inroads into the Stoke half. The only time they came close to scoring was when strong runs by Noco Watkins, Alex Fletcher, Jamie Harding and Andre Crossfield brought them within inches of the line. Stoke, however managed to notch up three more unconverted tries to go into half time with a 22 – 0 lead.
The second half was much better for Walsall and following another try for Stoke, Walsall hit back with some fine play taking them up the right wing befor the ball was passed out to Cameron Kirkbride to crash over for a try converted by Jamie Harding. There followed some very intense play with Stoke scoring again before a great drive by Alex Fletcher put him over the line and it was again converted by Jamie Harding to leave the final score Stoke 32 – Walsall 14.
