Walsall Under 14’s V Telford

On a bight sunny autumn morning, Walsall proved too strong for a plucky Telford Side. From the kick off Walsall gathered the ball and drove forwards. From the resulting ruck Jamie Harding broke free only to cross both the try line AND dead ball line before putting it down. This was the first of two such occasions when Walsall ran over the dead ball line. However this was quickly put right when the ball went wide right and Alex Fletcher supported to stride over for the first try, converted by Jamie Harding. This was quickly followed by a move left from the kick off where Nico Watkins out sprinted the defence to score a try again converted by Jamie Harding. This was followed by a repeat performance for Nico to score his second try again converted by Jamie Harding. Following some good rucking by Walsall, Alex fletcher again crossed the line to score his second wide out. Walsall were well in charge of the game and following some quick rucked ball, debutant William Hennessy ghosted through the defence for a maiden try. The final try of the game came when Joe Tipson broke through the defence to sprint 60 yards to score a try converted by Cameron Kirkbride.
Following some changes at half time, Walsall continues to dominate but Telford, to their credit, refused to give up and put in some fine tackles to keep Walsall at bay. However Cameron Kirkbride picked up the ball from No.8 and sprinted to score an unconverted try. He repeated this straight form the kick off and then Following some mauling, Jamie Harding dived over from close range to score an unconverted try. The last try of the game came when Nico Watkins broke down the right wing and was well supported by Sam Tillott to go over for his first try of the season. This was converted by Jamie Harding to leave the final score Telford 0, Walsall 60.
