Walsall V Stafford
Sunday 24th November 2013
Walsall played below par today and were beaten by a Stafford side that had upped their game since our last encounter. In a game that was rendered very stop start by the referee, Walsall were slow to start and were soon down a converted try. After waking up Walsall hit back with a solo effort by Cameron Kirkbride which was unconverted. The scores remained the same until 40 mins into the first half (Usually 25 mins long) when Stafford extended their lead with an unconverted try.
In the second half Walsall again started slowly and Stafford pounced over the line for a converted try to leave them 19-7 up. Walsall then started to play a bit but some fine defence enabled Stafford to keep them out until, from a scrum, Jamie Harding picked up and surged over for an unconverted try. Walsall kept testing Stafford’s defence and finally Alex Fletcher scooped up a loose ball and went in for a try from half way. Unfortunately this was too late and the final score was 19-15 to Stafford.
