Walsall Under 14’s V Old Silhillians

Walsall returned to winning ways this weekend with a high scoring performance against Old Sils. Walsall started strongly and soon, from a line out the ball was passed along the backs to Cameron Kirkbride who ran in under the post for a try, converted by Jamie Harding. Two mins later there was a repeat performance only this time it came from a scum but it ended the same with Cameron scoring and Jamie converting. The third try came from some good recycling of the ball to stretch the defence and allowing Jamie Harding to dive over for a try which he then converted. This was followed a few mins later by another try for Jamie which was unconverted leaving the half time score 26 – 0.
The second half continued in the same vein with both forwards and backs managing to make deep inroads into the Old Sils defence which, to their credit, never gave up. Following one such run Cameron managed to offload to Ryan Johnson to score under the posts which was converted by Jamie Harding. This was followed by some slick handling by the forwards which set Noah Griffiths free on the half way and he showed a good turn of speed to cross for an unconverted try. Walsall continued to press Old Sils and from a ruck close to their line George Perkins supported the backs to cross under the posts for a try converted by Jamie Harding. The final score for Walsall came when Old Sils kicked deep, Joe Tipson ran the ball back strongly and then offloaded to Alex Fletcher to score a try converted by Jamie Harding. Old Sils then had their best spell of the game, when Walsall infringed a number of times to allow them to put pressure on Walsall’s line. However Walsall held firm and the final score was 52 - 0
