Walsall Under 14’s V Bromsgrove

In a rearranged fixture from the previous week, Walsall entertained Bromsgrove. Walsall started a bit slowly and Bromsgrove were pressurizing Walsall’s line when a dropped pass was picked up by Nico Watkins who sprinted the length to score under the posts. This was converted by Will Hennesey. Bromsgrove came back strongly and following a couple of silly penalties by Walsall, Bromsgrove drove across the line for a converted try to level the scores. Walsall then managed to get some possession of their own and drove paly down to Bromsgrove’s 5 metre line before going into touch. From the line out George Perkins put pressure on the fly half who missed his kick and James Tamilio pounced on the ball to score. This was again converted by Will Hennesey. The final score of the half came from a break for Walsall’s 22 when Nico Watkins went through a gap and again scored from long distance. This was again converted by Will Hennesey.
The second half was started strongly by Walsall when the backs got the ball out to Cameron Kirkbride who ghosted through the defence to score under the posts for Will Hennnesey to Convert. However Bromsgrove were not about to lie down and came back with another good try by the scrum half. Then following a quickly tapped penalty Rhys Gaddu, who was playing his first game back after injury, crashed through the defence to score the last of Walsall’s tries again converted by Will Hennesey who got 5 out of 5 in the match. However Bromsgrove did manage to come back to score the final try which was a drive from the forwards near the corner. This was unconverted leaving the final score Walsall 35, Bromsgrove 17. All in all, an entertaining game of rugby from both sides.
