Walsall under 14’s V Whitchurch
Sunday 16th February 2014
After a long, weather enforced layoff, Walsall were gald to travel to Whitchurch and grateful to them for the chance of a game. Fielding two new players, Olly and Edward, Walsall were keen to play some rugby. Walsall kicked off to Whitchurch and following an early drive, Walsall out rucked them at the first breakdown and spun the ball wide to allow space for Nico Watkins to run. When he was stopped, Jamie Harding took the offload and finished the try off. This then became the patten for the rest of the game. The first vhalf scorers wereNico Watkins, William Hennessey, another for Jamie Harding and two apiece for Rhys Gaddu and Alex fletcher. Jamie harding put over 4 conversions and William Hennessey 2.
The second half was a tighter affair with some changes in position for the Walsall players. However Walsall still managed to score three tries by William Hennessey, Sam Garbett and a third for Jamie Harding. Jamie also converted two leaving the final score at 71 – 10. It has to be said that Walsall were on their top form following the lay off and their passing, off loading and support play were of the highest standard. Hopefully they will take this form into matches over the next few weeks.
