Walsall Under 14’s V Market Bosworth
Sunday 24th February 2014
Walsall were on their travels again this week and were grateful to Market Bosworth for arranging a fixture with them. With the Wind and slope against them Walsall kicked off and were immediately put under pressure from Market Bosworth who drove well and recycled the ball to come within a couple of metres of Walsall’s line. However when they managed to gain possession, Walsall shipped the ball wide for Nico Watkins to sprint the first try in and Jamie Harding converted. Soon afterwards, The ball went wide again for Walsall and Full back Cameron Kirkbride came into the line and used his pace to cross wide out. Following this the Market Bosworth side put more pressure on Walsall which resulted in their centre breaking through some tackles to score near the posts which was converted. The final score of the first half again came from a break by Cameron Kirkbride and this time it was converted by William Hennessey.
In the second half with the wind behind them Walsall expected an easy ride but it was not to be, with Market Bosworth starting strongly to score first which was unconverted. Walsall then scored when a long Walsall kick was returned by Market Bosworth straight into William Hennessey’s hands and he jinked his way through for an unconverted try. This was followed by a break from Jamie Harding when with two men in front of him he chipped over and beat the defence to touch down for an unconverted try. The final score came when a switch move between Nico and Sam Garbett took play to within feet of the Market Bosworth line which made it simple for Rhys Gaddu to dive over for the last try. The final score was Walsall 34, Market Bosworth 12. Thanks again for the fixture and good luck in your cup match next week.
