Walsall Under 14’s V Bromsgrove

Walsall travelled to Bromsgrove on a sunny spring day and took part in an open and exciting game. Bromsgrove were obviously keen to make amends for the defeat ealier in the season and started strongly. However Walsall turned the ball over and sent it wide. After a break by Nico Watkins, he offloaded to Cameron Kirkbride to run it in for and unconverted try. However Bromsgrove came back strongly and soon went over for their first try which was converted. This proved to be the pattern for the rest of the game with Walsall scoring only for Bromsgrove to come back to them. The First half score was 24 – 12 to Walsall with Nico Watkins and Cameron Kirkbride getting two apiece and Rory Rollason slotting two conversions.
In the second half and playing against the wind, Walsall were put under severe pressure and defended well. If fact they twice broke from behind their own line to counter attack and score under Bromsgrove’s posts. In the end the Walsall scorers were Cameron Kirkbride 3 tries 2 Conversions, Nico Watkins 4 tries 1 conversion. Rhys Gaddu 1 try and Rory Rollason 2 conversions leaving the final score Walsall 48, Bromsgrove 36
