Walsall Under 14’s V Lichfield
Sunday 30th March 2014
Staffs Cup Semi-Final
On a bright sunny morning, playing on the first team pitch, Walsall and Lichfield played a cracking game of rugby. Lichfield started the stronger and quickly took the lead through some fine running out wide. They were soon two unconverted tries ahead but then a kick over the top by Rory Rollason was picked up by Cameron Kirkbride who ran under the posts for a try converted by William Hennessey. Unfortunately Lichfield were having the best of the play and scored two tries either side of half time one of which was converted. However Walsall came back and Nico Watkins scored two tries converted by William Hennessey to bring them within 6 points. Walsall were putting pressure on Lichfield but then Lichfield broke away to score an unconverted try and then a final one which was converted took the game beyond Walsall. However the boys competed very well and never looked like giving up. Better luck in the cup next year lads!!
