First we were winning comfortably, then we weren't, then it was close, then we were losing, then we were winning but it was soooo tight then it was more comfortable then it was 8 points up with 1 min to go then we won. Cracking game!
Defence was king and the Colts defence had more bite than Suarez. I don't normally single out names but Max's arrival in the back row and the subsequent reshuffle was a turning point. The back row had more balance to it. This gave the colts an early presence at the break down and this showed in slowing down Lichfield ball and in the number of turn overs and/or penalties gained. But this was truly a team effort. The 15 on the pitch performed. The bench performed. They all dug deep and battled back from behind and that is the true mark of a worthy victory. Even Graham Angell's knee came through the evening mostly unscathed. My 2p, feel free to disagree.
The FRT final is next week and the opposition is still to be determined but will no doubt be another cracker. Can Walsall break its' duck in its' own trophy? Come and see for yourself.
Quiet "big hand" for Arnie and all the work he does in putting the tournament together; many thanks. Also to Eroll for making water appear from nowhere for 3 hours to take some of the sting out of the pitch. These people go unnoticed but make a difference.
