Walsall took control of this national knockout cup game from the very start with a flair and talent that is a pleasure to watch. Javan Jarrett opened the scoring for Walsall running in a try out wide after 2 minutes, soon followed by Tarik Tin crashing over from close range. Ben Tipson was successful with one of the conversions. Stourbridge needed to get some points on the board and kicked a penalty 3 minutes before halftime which Walsall immediately responded to scoring their third try just before halftime with Alex Hawthorne taking the scoring pass off Ben Tipson.
Walsall then experimented and made a few positional changes allowing the full squad access to this showcase performance. Walsall ran in a further 2 tries from Ryan Doolan and Javan Jarrett adding to his earlier try. Ben Tipson converted one of these to make the final score 29...5 to Walsall.
Walsall will now play National league side Moseley at home in the next round on 20th November. Meanwhile it’s back to league action on Sunday with high flyers Wellesbourne visiting Delves Road for the first time.
