Walsall Colts battled hard with Moseley in the final regional round of the National Colts cup despite struggling with injuries. A makeshift backline defended valiantly against a well organised and drilled Moseley team and were unable to get a significant foothold in the game or exploit their pace on the wings. The forwards worked hard up front to contain a much bigger Moseley pack and never gave up in either work rate or commitment. The pressure finally told, however, after 22 mins of sterling defence when Moseley breached the home team’s line.
From then on the result was never really in doubt but Walsall made Moseley work hard for every point and finished the brighter team with Liam Atkins crossing over for a consolation try shortly before the final whistle.
Walsall lost 29-5 and now move on to the National Plate competition and hope to build on the success of last year when they made the quarter finals.
