The visitors made a hesitant start and conceded an early try. However, Walsall came back strongly and finally a try from Connor Pitt, newly recovered from injury, and a conversion from Jordan Lay put Walsall back in the game. At half time Walsall trailed by 12-7.
In the second half DK extended their lead to 17 -7 but Walsall continued to push forward and began to dominate the territory. Ryan Tamilio (flanker) was prominent at the breakdown and Michael Lockett ( second row) secured the line out balls. Two Walsall tries followed - the first from Connor Fletcher (no. 8) who found the line following a ruck and then Ryan Tamilio scored following a catch and drive. A conversion by Jordan Lay put Walsall in the lead 17-19.
DK pushed hard at the Walsall line for the final 20 minutes and although Walsall defended well the home team managed to find the line and scrape the victory.
A fantastic game where the Walsall boys showed their true grit!
