Walsall travelled to Moseley today and played a really good game of rugby. The weather was extremely windy to say the least, adding a strong cross wind to contend with. Both teams worked well considering the elements. Communication was there for all to see today, working hard for each other.

The game got under way both teams were keen to exert pressure on each other. Walsall's rucking was in good form, securing good structured attacking options. The passes that were kept short and sharp got to the intended target but the more flighted passes went astray for both teams. To be fair the ref let a lot of the game flow giving each side full advantage if the attacking teams passes went wayward in the wind. Moseley seemed to be slightly better organised in the defensive line area and managed to steal a rucked ball off Walsall to set their first try, the winger going over and around under the posts. Walsall reacted positively and pushed for an equalising try only to lose out on Moseley's quick defensive line again and steal another ball from Walsall. Play flowed from one side to the other, each team having to tackle really well. Moseley added another try before half-time through good interplay from forwards and backs moving it out to the wing again to score. Walsall had a great finally 5 mins of the first half were they made good ground from their own half to the Moseley 5 metre line in 3 phases of play, only to have a rolling maul try disallowed as held up. The ref didn't have a good view of it so it was called held up. Half Time. 12-0 to Moseley.

The second half started much better, Walsall had more determination and purpose after the half time team talk. Walsall built on good lineout play in Moseley's half and began to push up the pitch. With strong forceful runs off the forwards to create the backs space to feed the ball into mid-field positions to recycle at the ruck area. There was a lovely move were Liam took the ball at pace and managed to break two tackles, change direction forcing himself over for a try. Well deserved team try lads. Lewis converted from a drop kick as it was really windy. Moseley pressed again and scored from a good midfield switch move, which was well drilled. Walsall then took a more determined stance by catching each pass and surging forward using a mixture of power and balance using the side step and spin technique. Good to see this from a prop as well. A move started deep in Walsall's half amounted to Walsall's second try. Good hands whilst running and simple pop passes off the floor paid off as they marched a good 70 metres for Fin to collect breaking the odd tackles to score eventually near the posts. Good team try again. Moseley then decided it was their turn again, scoring through a good period of play building up to a strong run down their wing to cut back inside to score near the posts. With 5 mins left Walsall built up momentum again pushing Moseley back deep into their 22 using quick rucked ball and off loading to forwards running on to a short pass. The last pass of a great team effort went to Liam who squeezed and forced his way through a tight Moseley defence to score near the left hand upright.

Sam Ferguson ( Great defensive last man tackling )& Ben White ( a powerful left wing run that took Walsall from deep into Walsall's half to Moseley's 22 metre line. )
