The cold weather had resulted in local matches being postponed last Saturday. But Walsall’s artificial grass pitch was in perfect condition for the, hurriedly, rearranged 2nd team league game between Walsall and Vesyans. It resulted in a high scoring contest, with commiserations going to the visitors. It is very rarely that a team scores over fifty points and still lose the game. The hosts seemed to be in control of the game for long periods, but they were guilty of some weak defending. This allowed their opponents to breakthrough and score eight tries. The home team were grateful for the experience shown by two former first team captains. Indeed, Rod Dickson and Dan Simpson both scored a brace of tries in their team’s nine try haul. Scott Peach,Josh Bancroft,Ben Cooper,Louis Vale and Jamie Hickman were the other try scorers. Also, a pleasing afternoon for Adam Tamillio. The teenage outside half showed a lot of maturity in attack and defence and also made a major contribution by converting seven of his team’s tries.
